Alcohol, speed suspected in Towson crash that killed two teenagers Thursday

Police news release: Maryland State Police continue to investigate a fatal single vehicle crash that occurred overnight on I-695 in Baltimore County.

The deceased victims are identified as Matthias Listwan, 18, and Hannah Goodman, 15, both of Reisterstown. Listwan was pronounced deceased at the scene. Goodman was transported to Greater Baltimore Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased. Both victims were back seat passengers at the time of the incident.

The two front seat occupants are identified Neiko Ali Reese Staton, 18, of Reisterstown and a 17 year old from Taneytown, who is not being identified due to the ongoing investigation. Staton was wanted on an outstanding warrant in Baltimore County on a traffic related offense. It is unknown who was operating the 2000 Honda Accord, at the time of the crash.

Shortly before 1:30 a.m. [Thursday] morning, troopers from the Golden Ring Barrack responded to a crash on the outer loop of I-695 at Providence Road in Baltimore. Troopers on scene immediately began rendering medical aid until EMS arrived on scene.

The preliminary crash investigation reveals the 2000 Honda Accord struck the right shoulder guardrail and continued across the roadway where it came to rest in the center lane. One of the front seat passengers, identified as Neiko Ali Reese Staton, fled from the scene. He was apprehended by officers from the Baltimore County Police Department a short distance away on the ramp, from I-695 to Providence Road. He was taken into police custody and transported to Sinai Hospital and later to the Baltimore County Detention Center where is awaiting appearance before a court commissioner.

MDOT SHA assisted with traffic control during the closure of the outer-loop of I-695 at Providence Road. Lanes reopened at approximately 5:30 a.m. this morning.  Officers from the Baltimore County Police Department assisted state troopers from the Golden Ring Barrack.  EMS from Baltimore County also responded to the scene.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Alcohol and speed are suspected to be contributing circumstances in the crash. When the investigation has been completed, it will be presented to the state’s attorney for review to determine what charges will be filed.
