KX3 tag near Nacho Mama’s in Towson

Baltimore County Police say they have arrested a 24-year-old who is said to be responsible for a recent rash of vandalism in Towson.

On Sunday, officers from the Towson Entertainment Squad got a tip that the person responsible for the taggings, which say KX3, was a white male with a white baseball cap and a blue shirt.

The next evening, they got a call about someone with a similar description who was painting a wall at 610 York Road. When police caught up with him at York and Towsontown Boulevard, he was carrying paint cans and had a surgical mask on his chin.

He was arrested and police say “he admitted to tagging all the properties with the ‘KX3’ and feels it is art.”

Some of the businesses targeted include Green Turtle, various walls at Towson Commons, Tobacco Market, State Highway Administration signage in Towson circle, Lotsa Pizza, Fidelity Investments and Towsontown Center. Officers have not yet identified all of the possible victims and are working with the Towson Chamber of Commerce to work with businesses to get all the graffiti removed.

Police say the officers who were instrumental in the suspect’s apprehension are Scott Bockstie, Scott Johnson, and Robert Hoerr. They are all members of the Entertainment Squad that was added in 2017 to Patrol Central Towson to address the increase in nuisance and quality of life crimes.

“Good work by our Towson police in apprehending this criminal,” said Councilman David Marks. “Hopefully, a judge orders him to repair every property he defaced.”

Nancy Hafford, executive director of the Towson Chamber of Commerce, said his apprehension was “great news” but her group is still working to help affected businesses.

“Internally, we have started a Beautification Committee to clean up Towson and resolve items that have become issues in our area,” she said in an email. “With in the next week, we will be sending out a survey so that [members] can tell us which issues you believe are most pertinent.”

Learn from your mistakes people. It’s obvious that the solution is right there at the avenue. To allow this to continue will turn shoppers away. None of us want to go there anymore
