Every third Thursday night of each month, learn a new skill in a studio workshop inspired by the Walters collection or special exhibitions. Make Nights are designed to give adults insight into artists’ styles and techniques. Under the guidance of art experts and practicing artists, participants will view art in the galleries then create their own works in a hands-on studio experience.

Make Night: Stretch Your Own Canvas
Date: Thursday, February 15, 2018
During this workshop, participants will learn how to stretch their own canvas over a wood support. Framemaker Jon Steele will guide participants in the long-term care and storage of their canvases, as well as provide a short lesson on cutting mats for framed pictures. Senior Paintings Conservator Pamela Betts will join Steele for a conversation.
Make Night: Textile Weaving

Taking inspiration from the Walters’ tapestries, textile artist April Camlin will guide participants in the construction of a basic loom. Attendees will receive basic weaving instruction and begin their own textile piece.
