Trader Joe’s, as you probably know, is moving from its downtown Towson location to The Shops at Kenilworth. It’s scheduled to open in the spring of 2017. It’s part of an overall renovation of the Kenilworth mall.
Greenberg Gibbons, the developer who is renovating Kenilworth, has released renderings (above) of how the new space will look.
“Plans call for transforming the concrete exterior and outdated interior into a more contemporary and welcoming specialty shopping and community gathering place. The design concept includes reducing the current space by 8,000 square feet and adding a 20,000-square-foot, three-level “marketplace” featuring a wine bar, a mix of casual and fine dining options, and a rooftop garden with panoramic views,” the developer said.
“Exterior renovation plans include adding grand front and side entryways that welcome visitors and improve the overall flow of foot traffic. Interior plans call for contemporary fixtures, updated floors and warm woods throughout, while incorporating natural light to create an inviting environment. The project also will maintain ample, convenient parking to ensure an easy in-and-out shopping experience,” according to Greenberg Gibbons.
Cool! Are they going to get a traffic light there? It’s nearly impossible to turn left onto Kenilworth Avenue at busier times as it is now… Love the TJ’s move, though I hope the spaces overall don’t lose their charm….
