Towson University announced that head baseball coach Mike Gottlieb (pictured above) won his 700th career game when the Towson Tigers beat Kennesaw State 6-5 on Saturday afternoon to take the series from the Owls.

In a release about the game, the university said:

The Tigers struck for a pair of runs in the first inning as Chris Henze delivered an RBI double to right center. Colin Gimblet followed with an RBI groundout.

Towson added to its lead in the third as Gimblet started a two-out rally with a base on balls. Richard Miller plated Gimblet with a double to left center, then scored on a Colin Dyer single through the left side.

The Owls got two runs back in the home-half of the inning as David Chabut delivered an RBI double to left center and Chris Erwin drove him home with a single to center.

Henze got a run back for the Tigers in the fourth with a two-out RBI double down the left field line.
Colin Dyer scored the sixth run of the game in the fifth as he doubled down the left-field line to start the inning before scoring on a double play later in the inning.

KSU pulled within one run in seventh as Jordan Getzelman drove in two runs with a triple to right center, then scored on a Chabut single to center. The Owls tried to tie the game in the eighth as they put a runner on second with one out. Matt Golczewski made sure the tieing run stayed there as he came out of the bullpen and got a pair of flyouts to end the threat.

Kevin Ross (1-3) picked up his first win of the season after allowing two runs, one earned, on five hits over 5.2 innings.

Golczewski (1) retired all five hitters he faced to earn his first save of the season. AJ Moore (1-2) allowed six runs on seven hits over four innings in taking the loss. Gimblet and Dyer each collected three hits, including a double, and drove in a run. Henze finished 2-for-4 with two doubles and drove in two runs.
