Laurie Taylor-Mitchell, of the Loch Raven Network of Baltimore County, is teaming up with Empower4life this weekend to get clothes and other necessities to kids in need. Here’s what she says:
Empower4life, a non-profit that runs programs for school children living in homeless shelters in Baltimore County, has very generously spread the word on the appeal of the Loch Raven Network for clothing and toiletries for
students in need.
We will be collecting and sorting donations for four high schools, a middle school, and two elementary schools where staff would like clothing for their students.
If you have gently used or new clothing for cold weather for K-12 students, school backpacks/school supplies, small sizes of toiletries (especially body lotion and lip balm, but deodorant and shampoo and toothpaste or toothbrushes also welcome), you can deliver them on Friday, Jan. 5 from 3pm-6pm, or Saturday, Jan. 6, from 8am-10 am, at the Empower4life office at 3224 E Joppa Road, Parkville 21234.
From Towson, take Joppa Road to Oak Summit Rd., turn left at Oak Summit and then take an immediate left into the parking lot. The Empower4life office is the last door at the end of the building under the awning. Open the door
and go up the stairs to the door on the right.
Overflow parking is the lot behind the barber shop or along the street on Oak Summit (just be sure not to block driveways).
Volunteers will collect and sort donations for the different schools at these times. If you would like to help out, send a message to Ltmitchell4@comcast.net.
