WTMD’s Saturday Morning Tunes coming to Senator Theater

On Dec. 2, WTMD’s Saturday Morning Tunes concert series is coming to the Senator Theatre for an indoor festival featuring Lard Dog & the Band of Shy and the Rhodes Tavern Troubadours.

Baltimore children’s book author Kevin O’Malley will be sketching animals and other creatures by request, and we’ll have a holiday-themed photo booth, inflatable instruments for little ones to play along with the bands, videos on the big screen, arts & crafts, coffee, bicycle rides and more.

Lard Dog & the Band of Shy had the #1 song on Sirius XM’s Kids Place Live, and puts on a catchy and zany live show for adults and kids. Norah Jones used to be one of their backup singers, and their front man, Steven Erdman, was an illustrator and jingle writer for Nickelodeon in the 1990s.

The Rhodes Tavern Troubadours are a group of veteran musicians from D.C., including Mark Noone, who used to sing for the Slickee Boys (they set the record for the most performances ever at the 9:30 Club). They’ve been featured multiple times in the Washington Post, who called them a “super group” of area musicians.

Doors open at 9 a.m. and the music runs from 9:30 a.m. to 11:20 a.m. Saturday Dec. 2 at the Senator Theatre, 5904 York Road in Baltimore.
