February 2017 Officer of the Month
The Precinct 6 Officer of the Month for February 2017 is collectively awarded to Detective S. Bissett, Detective C. Bracken, Detective E. Heyman, and Officer A. Hay.

This group of detectives and officer played a major part in pushing back against crime in February. Detective Bissett turned a Bias Incident-Destruction of Property case with virtually no leads into six case clearances, which included the second degree burglary of the Graul’s Wine and Spirit Shop.

He methodically worked through a series of potential leads that he generated until he found the suspect.

Officer Hay stopped four suspects on Pinehurst Road who were checking car doors in the area. Detective Bracken came in to assist with the case. Officer Hay enthusiastically worked with him and helped connect these suspects to numerous other crimes.

Detective Heyman rounded out the group with his thorough investigation into a 1st Degree Assault near the TGI Fridays restaurant, which resulted in an arrest and the recovery of a handgun. He also cleared another armed robbery on Chestnut Oak by arrest.

Captain Landsman commented, “I lean on these detectives constantly regarding the serious crime that goes on in this precinct and I appreciate their hard work! I am excited to see what the future holds for Officer Hay, who impressed the detectives with his contributions. Outstanding Job!”

Congratulations to all of these officers on a job well done and much appreciated.

January 2017 Officer of the Month
Officer of the Month for January 2017 is collectively awarded to Officer J. Mims, Officer D. Humes, and Officer D. Short.

The tenacity demonstrated by these officers on January 18 was instrumental to the apprehension of two suspects responsible for two attempted carjackings at the Towson Town Center. Although many officers and detectives contributed to the resolution of these cases, it was Officer Mims and Officer Humes who spotted them near the bus stop across from the Dulaney Valley Road mall entrance after a description had been broadcast.

The suspects fled on foot to the rear of the Fresh Market and were pursued by Officer Mims and Officer Humes. Officer Short quickly made his way to the area and apprehended one of the suspects as he attempted to scale the fence behind the Fresh Market. Both suspects were arrested and a loaded handgun was recovered.

Officer Mims and Officer Short seem to be everywhere all of the time. Officer Humes, a more recent graduate from the Police Academy, seems to be falling in line with this diligent group of officers by making a key contribution in a major case.

Outstanding work, guys, and congratulations!
