Sneak peek at soon-to-open Trader Joe’s at Kenilworth

As you’ve probably heard, Trader Joe’s is moving from its Joppa Road location to the Shops at Kenilworth. They will close as usual at the current location at 9 pm on Thursday, March 16, and open in their new spot the next morning at 8:00.

Store captain Connie Gray Prigg was kind enough to give The Towson Flyer a tour of the new store as she and crew members prepared for the grand opening.

“We are just so excited,” said Prigg, who started as a part-timer at the Towson store 12 years ago. “There’s such a buzz.”

The new store has an additional 600 square feet, better lighting and wider aisles so that navigating with carts will be easier. There are also three more cash registers.

And all the staff from the old store is moving to the new location, Prigg said, and some new people have also been hired. And of course, the parking lot. It faces Kenilworth Drive, and let’s just say it’s a big improvement.

On Friday’s opening day they will have a bagpiper (in honor of St. Patrick’s Day), more food samples than usual, and they will be giving away some re-usable shopping bags.

I can’t wait till this opens! Mainly for the ease of parking. Right now, so many people use the B&N/TJ lot for movie or mall parking, even though you’re not supposed to.
