Drivers going east or west on Regester Avenue now have left-turn signals for their turns onto York Road in the Rodgers Forge/Stoneleigh/Anneslie area.
The neighborhoods, with help from Del. Steve Lafferty and Councilman David Marks, had advocated for the signals because the intersection was frustrating to navigate. For drivers on eastbound Regester, in Rodgers Forge, it could often take several light changes before they were able to turn left onto northbound York. Additional traffic from the new Starbucks added to the problem.
The two left-turn arrows from eastbound and westbound Regester run at the same time.
Definitely a step in the right direction. What would also help is change the order of the light on York Road so that the left turn arrow off York onto Regester would be first, not last. That and a right turn arrow for traffic turning right off Regester onto northbound York timed with the left turn arrow for traffic coming off York onto Regester would also help reduce congestion at that intersection.
When are they going to put a barrier of some type up to keep west bound traffic from making an illegal left turn over a double yellow? That’s the real problem.
