A note received from a Parkville student

You can help local students living in poverty by donating items this weekend to the Loch Raven Network’s Big Spring Drive. Volunteers will be collecting school supplies, non-perishable food, clothing, toiletries and more.

“These schools have many thousands of children living in poverty.  Some are homeless, which is why we are collecting for Empower4life, others are hungry and food-insecure, so we are collecting to support Food for Thought Baltimore County,” said Laurie Taylor-Mitchell, founder of the network. “We want to show these schools — and hopefully there will be more drives like this one to help other schools — what is possible when our communities get engaged and assist our children in great need.”
