Updates on BCPS superintendent search and filing for school board election

As previously reported, the process for filing to run for a seat on the Baltimore County Board of Elections is a complicated process and was made more so by the fact that one of the receipts needed to run would be mailed to candidates and the time frame for its delivery was not clear.

BCPS now says when candidates file their financial disclosure forms, they will immediately receive a letter saying it was filed but not yet reviewed. Candidates can then file that letter with the county board of elections; until that change, candidates had to wait for the form to be reviewed and wait for a receipt to come in the mail.

After 4:30 PM on the filing deadline day (Feb. 27), candidates who still need to file their financial disclosure forms may do so at the Board of Elections and a stand-by member of the ethics panel will be on hand to give receipts that can then be filed on site.

In other BCPS news, the Baltimore Sun is reporting that the Board of Education will conduct a nationwide search for a new superintendent — although Verletta White is still very much in the running.

Nothing has changed under Ms. White’s leadership. There is no transparency or accountability.

School violence is still out of control and nothing is being done to address the issues except by the administration to sweep them under the proverbial rug.
