Bel-Loc Diner serves its last meal, makes way for Starbucks

After 53 years in business, the Bel-Loc Diner at Joppa Road and Loch Raven Boulevard has served its last meal. The Baltimore Sun was there to take in the scene.

Despite an effort to preserve it, the building will be torn down and in its place will be a Starbucks.

On the diner’s Facebook page, many people paid tribute to the diner’s food, atmosphere and staff.

Congressman Dutch Ruppersberger was there on the last day.

“Last meal at Bel Loc Diner was sad but delicious as ever,” he wrote on Facebook. “Thanks to owner Bill Doxanas for 52 years in the MD02 community. The diner has been an institution and will be missed!”
