Civil rights agency looks at Towson mall’s new curfew

The Maryland Commission on Civil Rights is looking into whether Towson Town Center’s new curfew policy could be considered age discrimination. There is also a concern that it targets people of color, according to a Baltimore Sun article.

Earlier this week the mall announced a policy, set to start Sept. 16, that after 5:00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays, kids 17 and under must be accompanied by a parent or someone over 21.

The White Marsh Mall, which, like Towson Town Center, is owned by General Growth Properties, does not have a curfew policy. The Avenue at White Marsh has a 9 p.m. curfew every day, as does Hunt Valley Towne Centre.

It is always something. There is a reason WHY this move was necessary. I live behind the Mall and this change is necessary not only for inside the Mall but outside the Mall too.
