Following the oftentimes painful-to-watch Baltimore County Board of Education meeting in which the heat-closure policy was revised, the Baltimore Sun’s editorial board says board members “take a back seat to none in sheer governmental dysfunction.”
“From the acrimony with which board members Ann Miller and Kathleen Causey questioned the superintendent (whether about capital spending, heat closures or most any other subject), it appeared that surely he had been arrested for a serious crime and they had been assigned his prosecutors,” the editorial said. “Skepticism is one thing, but rarely will one find a chief administrator treated more rudely or questions posed so torturously, repetitively and pointlessly, particularly toward a superintendent whose latest contract, a four-year renewal, began just two months ago.” Read the full editorial here.

“. . . questions posed so torturously, repetitively and pointlessly. . .”
Maybe, just maybe, if our esteemed superintendent had actually ANSWERED a question that was posed to him, the questions would not have been repeated. And for him to tell Ms. Miller that she should “infer” his meaning??? Really??? And what happens later when someone tries to hold him accountable for what was “inferred?” He can go back and say he never said that, just like a politician!
I applaud Ms. Miller and Ms. Causey for actually asking questions and demanding answers. To characterize their questions as rude puzzles me. I expect the Board to ask Dance hard questions, and for him to answer them. Directly and honestly. And if he can’t – if they can’t – they all need to go. I am sick of the games being played with my child’s education. I am sick of the rubber stamp given to Dance to do as he pleases.
Was Ms. Miller placed there with an agenda to subvert?
