The Baltimore Sun has a sweet story about a Towson native who’s collecting stories about what the area was like back in the day:
When 93-year-old Elizabeth “Libby” Thawley isn’t on Facebook or playing Scrabble on her iPad, her mind often is busy with stories of a bygone Towson and its surrounding area. She is one of the many writers for “The Blakehurst Banner,” a quarterly publication that circulates in Blakehurst, the Towson retirement community.
In the spring, Thawley might recall a story of her exploring a garden filled with daffodils, roses and a natural bubbling spring that used to grow near railroad tracks at the corner of Bellona Avenue and Joppa Road.
