We adopted a dog at the end of the summer. She’s about 4 years old, we think, and a real sweetie. One of the first days we had her, she went missing temporarily. We couldn’t find her until I noticed a lump moving in our bed — she had jumped up and crawled under all the covers and the sheet.
And when I put blankets on the couch to protect it a bit from her doggishness, she would sit under them instead of on top of them.
So we ordered her a pet cave.
The first was a Snoozer Cozy Dog Cave in size small that we got from Amazon. It has a plastic half circle bar that keeps the bed somewhat open, but the bar comes out so you can throw the cover in the washing machine. She really liked it. She’s about 27 pounds and it fit her well.
So we started using it in her crate where she sleeps at night. Then we got a large cave bed to keep in the living room. This one we ordered from Doctors Foster & Smith and I’m not sure if it’s the same brand or just something similar. It doesn’t stay quite as open, but she is still able to easily stick her snout in and enter it.
She loves this bed. She goes in it all the time. Half the time you can’t even see her because she’s so far in. But sometimes she has most of her body sticking out. Once in a while she just sits on top of it.
My daughter wants one for herself, and honestly I want one, too. So cozy.
If you have a dog that likes to burrow, think about one of these beds.
I was not compensated for this post. (I wish!)
